These Community Guidelines apply to:
- All TripMate users, regardless of subscription tier
- All interactions within the app (messages, posts, reviews, etc.)
- All trip planning and group activities
- Profile content and public-facing information

Violating these guidelines may result in:
- Warnings and educational notices
- Temporary restrictions on features
- Suspension or permanent ban from the platform
- Reporting to law enforcement (for illegal activities)
Our Approach: We believe in education first. Most violations result in a warning with guidance on how to comply. Serious or repeated violations may lead to account suspension.

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited on TripMate:
3.1 Harassment & Abuse
Zero Tolerance: We have zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, or abusive behavior. Violations result in immediate action.
Do not engage in:
- Threats or Intimidation: Threatening violence, harm, or other negative consequences
- Sexual Harassment: Unwanted sexual advances, comments, or requests
- Hate Speech: Attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Bullying: Repeated targeting, mocking, or demeaning of individuals
- Doxxing: Sharing someone's private information without consent (address, phone, etc.)
- Stalking: Persistent unwanted contact or following
3.2 Spam & Scams
Prohibited commercial activities:
- Spam: Unsolicited bulk messages, repetitive posts, or automated messaging
- Fraudulent Schemes: Ponzi schemes, fake investments, or financial scams
- Phishing: Attempting to steal login credentials or personal information
- Pyramid Schemes: Multi-level marketing or recruitment schemes
- Unauthorized Advertising: Promoting commercial services without permission
3.3 Inappropriate Content
Do not post or share:
- Explicit Sexual Content: Pornography, nude images, or sexually explicit material
- Violent Content: Graphic violence, gore, or content depicting harm
- Illegal Activities: Content promoting or facilitating illegal behavior
- Self-Harm Content: Material encouraging suicide, self-injury, or eating disorders

3.4 False Information
- Misleading Trip Info: False or deceptive trip details, locations, or itineraries
- Fake Reviews: False testimonials, reviews, or recommendations

- False Emergencies: Fake emergency or crisis claims

4.1 Trip Creation
When creating a trip, ensure you:
- Accurate Descriptions: Provide honest, detailed information about the trip
- Realistic Budgets: Set fair and achievable budget expectations
- Clear Expectations: Communicate trip requirements, pace, and difficulty level
- Inclusive Language: Use welcoming, non-discriminatory language
- Responsible Management: Manage the trip fairly and respond to member inquiries
4.2 Group Participation
As a trip member:
- Honor Commitments: Follow through on plans you've agreed to
- Timely Communication: Inform the group promptly of any changes
- Fair Contribution: Pay your share of expenses promptly and fairly
- Respect Decisions: Accept democratic group decisions gracefully
- Active Participation: Engage constructively in planning discussions
4.3 Expense Tracking
Guidelines for expense management:
- Accurate Entries: Record expenses honestly and completely
- Fair Allocation: Split costs equitably based on usage
- Timely Payments: Settle debts promptly to avoid conflicts
- Clear Communication: Discuss expenses openly before incurring them
- Respectful Resolution: Handle disputes maturely and respectfully
Expense Disputes: If disagreements arise about expenses, try to resolve them directly with group members. Document all expenses with receipts when possible. TripMate provides tools but cannot enforce payment.

5.1 Profile Content
Your profile should include:
- Appropriate Photos: Profile pictures that are clear and appropriate (no nudity, violence, or offensive imagery)
- Honest Information: Accurate bio and travel interests
- Respectful Language: No offensive or inflammatory text
- No Misleading Info: Don't misrepresent your identity or intentions
5.2 Messages & Communications
When communicating:
- Stay Relevant: Keep messages on-topic and related to travel
- Appropriate Tone: Be friendly, professional, and respectful
- No Spam: Avoid repetitive or automated messages
- Respect Boundaries: Don't send unsolicited personal or romantic messages
5.3 Trip Content
Trip descriptions and content should:
- Be Accurate: Provide truthful destination and activity information
- Include Helpful Details: Give recommendations based on real experience
- Respect Local Culture: Show sensitivity to local customs and traditions
- Avoid Illegal Content: Never suggest or promote illegal activities

6.1 How to Report
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines:
- In-App Reporting: Use the report button on profiles, messages, or trips
- Provide Details: Include specific information about the violation
- Anonymous Option: Reports can be made anonymously if preferred
- Emergency Situations: For immediate safety concerns, contact local authorities first, then report to us
Emergency: If you're in immediate danger, call local emergency services (911 in the US, 112 in Europe, etc.) before reporting to TripMate.
6.2 What to Include in Reports
- Username or profile of the violator
- Type of violation (harassment, spam, inappropriate content, etc.)
- Screenshots or evidence (if available)
- Context and description of the incident
- Any previous interactions with the user
6.3 Moderation Process
After you submit a report:
- Acknowledgment: You'll receive confirmation within 24 hours
- Investigation: Our team reviews the report and gathers information
- Action: Appropriate action is taken based on severity
- Notification: You'll be informed when the review is complete
6.4 Review Timeline
- High-priority reports (safety threats): Reviewed within 2 hours
- Standard reports: Reviewed within 24-48 hours
- Complex cases: May take up to 5 business days
6.5 Consequences for Violations
Violations may result in:

- Content removal
- Temporary feature restrictions
Repeated or Serious Violations
- Temporary account suspension (7-30 days)
- Permanent ban from platform

Severe Violations (Immediate Action)

- Free from explicit sexual or violent content
- Educational and informative when discussing mature topics
- Respectful of diverse age groups within our community

- Do not target minors with inappropriate content
- Report any content sexualizing or endangering minors
- Parents should supervise minor's use of the app
- Age verification is required during registration

If conflicts arise with other users:
- Direct Communication First: Try to resolve issues through calm, respectful conversation
- Trip Creator Mediation: For group disputes, the trip organizer can help mediate
- Community Support: Ask other group members for perspective
- Escalation: If unresolved, report to TripMate moderation team
10.2 Expense Disputes
For disagreements about money:
- Clear Communication: Discuss the issue openly and honestly
- Documentation: Keep receipts and records of all expenses
- Fair Resolution: Seek a solution that's fair to all parties
- TripMate's Role: We provide tracking tools but cannot enforce payments
Mediation Support: While TripMate can't enforce financial agreements, we can provide guidance on fair resolution practices and facilitate communication between parties.

11.1 How to Appeal
If you believe a moderation action was incorrect:
- Email appeals@tripmate.com within 30 days of the action
- Include your username and details of the incident
- Explain why you believe the action was incorrect
- Provide any relevant evidence or context
11.2 Required Information
- Your account username
- Date and nature of the moderation action
- Explanation of your perspective
- Supporting evidence (screenshots, etc.)
11.3 Review Timeline
- Appeals are reviewed within 5-7 business days
- Complex cases may take up to 14 days
- You'll receive a response explaining the decision
11.4 Final Decisions
- After appeal review, decisions are final
- Repeated appeals on the same issue won't be reviewed
- Serious violations (illegal activity, severe harassment) are not appealable
